Star gooseberries need 6-8 hours of sunlight daily, but should be protected from scorching direct sun. Maintain consistently moist soil, but avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot. Water once every 1-2 weeks, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Well-drained sandy loam soil with a pH of 6.0-7.0 is ideal. Fertilize every 4-6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced fertilizer. Prune regularly to improve air circulation and light penetration, which helps prevent diseases and encourages even ripening of fruits. The plant thrives in warm temperatures (20-35°C or 68-95°F). In colder climates, protect from frost and consider using mulch and windbreaks.
