Welcome to Amie's Garden!
The Chains of Glory plant, also known as Clerodendrum smithianum, is a tropical perennial known for its stunning cascading white flowers and lush green foliage.
This winter blooming clerodendrum puts on a spectacular display with cascading white flowers that dance against its deep green foliage. Flowering racemes hang down a foot and a half or more and usually arrive in the depth of winter. A great subject for hanging baskets or grown as a standard, it often has two flowering periods during the winter season. Don’t prune after the height of summer so as to not disrupt the blooming cycle. Grow this cascading variety in full sun.
Light: Place in full sun to partial shade; avoid direct afternoon sun to prevent leaf burn.
Watering: Water when the soil is dry; it prefers moist soil but should not be overwatered.
Soil: Use fertile, well-draining soil; repot after the plant doubles in size or once a year.
Temperature: Thrives in temperatures suitable for your hardiness zone, typically 9b to 12.
Pruning: Prune after blooming to maintain a manageable size.
These tips will help ensure your Chain of Glory thrives in your garden or home.
