The black sapote, also known as the chocolate pudding fruit, is a tropical fruit native to Central America and Mexico. It's a member of the persimmon family and is known for its unique flavor and texture. Appearance and taste: When ripe, the fruit looks bruised and shriveled, with a dark chocolate brown to black flesh. The texture is similar to very ripe papaya or soaked dates, and the flavor is described as having honey, caramel, date, and mineral tones.

Black sapote need full sun, well-drained soil, and consistent watering, especially during dry periods.
Mulching helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Regular fertilization with a balanced fertilizer and annual pruning to remove dead or damaged branches are also important.
In frost-prone areas, protection from cold is necessary
